4 Steps to Sparkling Clean Tile

4 Steps to Sparkling Clean Tile

There’s a reason why tile is one of the most popular flooring options out there. It’s durable, versatile, and looks great in both kitchens and bathrooms. If you haven’t taken the time lately to give your tile the TLC it deserves, now is your chance. Whether you have porcelain, ceramic, or stone tile in your home, we have all the tips and tricks to get it sparkling clean in just four steps.

1. Prepare

The first step to shiny, clean tile floors is clearing crumbs, grass, and other loose debris from the surface. This step is important because it will ensure that the liquid cleaners you use next will be able to properly reach the surface. Opt to sweep or vacuum the tile to prepare for the next step.

 2. Mop the Surface
After the surface has been cleared of debris, your tile is ready to be mopped. If you’re in the market for a new mop, we’ve got recommendations. The best mops for tile are microfiber or steam mops, because both are gentle yet effective. Neither will scratch the surface of your beautiful tile floor.

There are also many different cleaning solutions
you can use to clean your tile. Some people choose to use a cleaner specifically meant for tile while others swear by DIY solutions. If DIY-ing is your hobby, tile cleaning is about to be a lot more fun. With a few simple household ingredients, you can make your own cleaning solution in minutes. Combine warm water, vinegar, and baking soda for a solution that can be used on tile as well as grout.

3. Tackle the Stains
If sweeping and mopping still won’t do the trick on stubborn stains, try mixing bleach with water and applying it to the area. Experts recommend using a mixture of 10% bleach and 90% water to get the job done.

When you’re cleaning your tile, don’t neglect the grout. This part of the tile is very porous and absorbs dirt and stains easily. To remove grout stains, try using the baking soda and vinegar mixture with a toothbrush to focus on small areas. Let serious stains soak overnight, and you’ll wake up to sparkling clean floors!

4. Wipe Down & Admire
Once your tile and grout have been swept, mopped, and stain-treated, it’s time to wipe the floors down with a wet cloth to remove any residual product. Lastly, use a clean, dry cloth to buff the tile. You should notice a difference in the color, shine, and overall appearance of the tile and grout. Finally, sit back and enjoy your spotless floors, and repeat this process weekly to prevent buildup and permanent stains.
